Hello there and welcome!. I'm so glad you stopped by. Let me introduce myself – I'm a proud mother of two grown daughters and a passionate facilitator of women's gatherings. I am a former Girl Scout leader which I co-led with Linda Sheldone of Sisterhood Seminars. Together we watched our daughters go from little kindergarten girls into capable young women who now have homes of their own. I also earned a business degree from California State University, San Marcos.
As a mother, I've gained invaluable experience in nurturing as I helped guide my daughters through various stages of life. Being a mom has taught me the importance of open and honest communication, especially when it comes to sensitive topics like sex education. My youngest daughter participated in a comprehensive sexuality education program in middle school through our church. It was called Our Whole Lives (OWL). I was very grateful that she got comprehensive, relevant, medically accurate information from caring adults. Sometimes, it's easier for our teens to hear this information from anyone other than their parents.
During my 7-year experience as a Girl Scout leader, I had the privilege of empowering young girls to become confident and compassionate individuals. Through various activities and discussions, I realized the significance of educating girls about life skills, core values, and their decision-making process. This experience further fueled my passion for comprehensive sexuality education. I've learned that as an effective facilitator, I rely on the three T's - Trust, Talking and Truth.
In addition to my role as a mother and Girl Scout leader, I have been actively involved in facilitating women's gatherings since 2018. These intimate small groups provide a safe and supportive space for women to come together, share their experiences, and explore important topics related to sexuality, relationships, and personal growth. Through these gatherings, I have witnessed the transformative power of knowledge and community.
As well as gathering women, I feature two other self-discovery tools that I use consistently in my own personal journey - journaling and meditation. I have been journaling for decades. It has helped me find clarity as I struggle with uncomfortable emotions and the thoughts associated with them. I also practice regular meditation to help quiet the chatter around the uncontrollable stressors in my life.
My mission is to empower individuals with accurate information, promote healthy relationships, and foster a positive and inclusive understanding of sexuality. I believe that everyone deserves access to comprehensive sexuality education and the opportunity to make informed choices about their bodies and relationships. The main thread of this mission is to remind young women that life-altering decisions come from personal core values and alignment with future goals.
I am a proponent of young people, especially girls, abstaining from most sexual activity until they reach a certain level of emotional maturity. I also believe that knowledge about all aspects of sexuality is to be taught free of shame, bias, and judgment. Studies show that when comprehensive sexuality education is taught, more young people postpone sexual intercourse as the healthier choice.
Ultimately, the sexual education of our young people is the responsibility of parents. I am here as an extension of you and your family values.
