Girl Gatherings - Puberty Talks for Girls

What are Girl Gatherings?

Girl Gatherings are designed to provide foundational, medically accurate information on puberty and reproduction for girls from middle school through high school. The program is a 3.5-hour meeting that covers various topics related to puberty and reproductive health.

These gatherings continue “the talk” they were given in elementary school. They are a safe space where your teen daughter can learn more about her changing body and blossoming emotions.

Comprehensive Sexual Education

The Girl Gatherings program is derived from the Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education: K-12. This was created by the Sexuality Information and Education Council for the United States (SIECUS). SIECUS is a task force that standardized all sex-ed programs for primary schools in the United States. It is comprehensive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate for each grade level.

Primary Goal

The primary goal of comprehensive sexuality education is to assist young people in developing a positive view of sexuality, provide them with the information they need to take care of their sexual health, and help them acquire skills to make decisions now and in the future so they become sexually healthy adults.

Girl Gatherings now approved by Girl Scouts!

Yes, however, I recommend that these resources be viewed by you first. You may decide to share them with your teen as you feel appropriate.

These are optional recommendations for you, as parents. They may help you understand why we want our young people to gain knowledge now so they become sexually healthy adults.  These resources may also help you normalize the language around sexuality discussions. Of course, your family values will always be honored. Girl Gatherings adhere to SIECUS Guidelines while presenting developmentally appropriate information.
